Varanasi to renovate 80 Ambedkar statues under state scheme
The Varanasi district will renovate and beautify 80 statues of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar under a state government scheme, with 10 statues selected from each of the district's eight assembly constituencies. Each statue project will receive a budget of 10 lakh rupees. The initiative, part of the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Murti Yojana, will repair damaged statues or replace completely broken ones with new marble idols. District Social Welfare Officer Girishchand Dubey stated that lists of dilapidated statues are being prepared for selection and subsequent site beautification. The beautification work will include planting greenery, constructing five-foot-high boundary walls and railings, and installing attractive lighting and sign boards. Proposals from each assembly constituency will be sent to the state government, with construction beginning once the budget is approved.
