Vancouver businesses brace for influx of fans ahead of Taylor Swift concerts
Taylor Swift will perform three concerts at BC Place in Vancouver starting December 6. About 250,000 fans are expected to attend, prompting local businesses to prepare for increased traffic and spending. In Toronto, Swift's concerts led to a 45% increase in downtown spending. Clothing and accessory stores saw significant boosts, with spending up 49% and 102%, respectively. Vancouver is projected to generate $157 million for its economy from the concerts. Moneris, a commerce provider, will track spending patterns during the Vancouver concerts. They expect to release data on the economic impact a few days after the final show on December 8.
