Uttarakhand police destroy 150 boxes of banned kite string after biker's death
Uttarakhand police have registered 11 FIRs against shopkeepers for selling banned Chinese 'manjha', a dangerous kite string. This action follows a biker's death in Haridwar on January 1 due to the string entangling around his neck. Police destroyed 150 boxes of the banned product during a special drive. Eight FIRs were filed in Haridwar and three in Dehradun. The use of Chinese 'manjha' has been illegal in India since 2017 due to safety concerns. Authorities emphasize the risks posed by this synthetic string to public safety, wildlife, and the environment. Police have urged the public to report any sales of Chinese 'manjha'.
