Uttar Pradesh will combat malnutrition with daily snacks
The Uttar Pradesh government will spend Rs 44 per child daily on morning snacks to combat malnutrition in eight districts, aiming to improve the health of 1.1 million children. This initiative, part of the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan, will provide snacks with 400 calories and 15-20 grams of protein. The snacks will include flavored milk, fruits, and a millet nutribar, distributed through a take-home ration model. The nutribar, previously piloted in Varanasi, showed positive results in reducing anemia and improving attendance at anganwadi centers. Health experts will regularly assess the program's impact.
