Uttar Pradesh government introduces no helmet no fuel rule for two-wheeler riders

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to implement a "no helmet, no fuel" rule for two-wheeler riders to reduce road accidents. Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh issued a directive on January 8, instructing fuel stations to deny fuel to riders without helmets. This policy aims to address the high number of fatalities among two-wheeler riders, with data showing many victims do not wear helmets. The initiative, previously tried in Gautam Buddh Nagar in 2019, will now be enforced statewide. Fuel station operators will be educated on the law, and safety signage will be installed. The government will also conduct awareness campaigns to promote helmet use as a vital safety measure.
