Uttar Pradesh boosts defense manufacturing with BrahMos unit

Uttar Pradesh has become a major defense manufacturing hub with the inauguration of a BrahMos missile unit in Lucknow, marking a significant step towards India's self-reliance in defense. The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, spanning six cities, has attracted investments of over Rs 28,475 crore from 169 companies, with land allotted to 57. The corridor is expected to generate over 46,000 jobs, producing a range of equipment from missiles to drones. This initiative, part of the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" vision, aims to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. Experts predict Uttar Pradesh could export defense products worth over Rs 25,000 crore annually by 2029.
