US withdraws from Ukraine war crimes investigation effort
The US will withdraw from the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, which investigates Russian war crimes. This decision was communicated to European allies in a letter on Monday. The US was the only non-European country to send a senior prosecutor to The Hague for this investigation. The withdrawal is part of a resource redeployment under the Trump administration, which is also reducing the work of the War Crimes Accountability Team. Despite the US exit, the ICPA remains committed to prosecuting those responsible for war crimes in Ukraine. The group includes prosecutors from several European countries, including Ukraine and Poland.
