US warns of 8,000 North Korean soldiers set to join combat in Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that 8,000 North Korean soldiers in Russia are expected to begin combat operations against Ukraine in the Kursk region soon. This follows reports that 80% of the 10,000 North Korean troops sent for training are now in Kursk. Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that Russia has equipped these troops with uniforms and military training, indicating their intended use in frontline operations. This marks the first time in a century that Russia has invited foreign troops onto its territory. The announcement comes amid high casualty rates for Russian forces in Ukraine, with reports of 1,200 daily casualties. Additionally, North Korea recently launched its longest intercontinental ballistic missile, further highlighting its growing military partnership with Russia.
