U.S. Senate approves naming Monroeville VA center after D-Day veteran Henry Parham

The U.S. Senate has passed a bill to name a new VA center in Monroeville after Henry Parham, a veteran of the only all-Black unit involved in the D-Day invasion during World War II. The center, located behind the Monroeville Mall, will be called the Henry Parham VA Clinic. Parham served in the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion and died in 2021 at age 99. Parham's unit played a crucial role during the D-Day invasion, raising barrage balloons to protect against enemy aircraft. The bill passed unanimously on Saturday.
