U.S. government seeks to recover $13 million in political donations from former FTX executives
The U.S. government is negotiating to recover about $13.25 million in political donations made by former FTX executives. A federal court has granted an extension until January 15 for discussions with several political action committees (PACs) regarding the potential forfeiture of these funds. Judge Lewis Kaplan approved the request, allowing more time to engage with PACs that typically support Democratic candidates. The donations were allegedly made through fraudulent means by ex-FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and his associates. Former FTX executive Nishad Singh testified that he made donations on Bankman-Fried's orders. Following FTX's collapse, many politicians and PACs have started returning donations linked to Bankman-Fried.
