US firm seeks Brazilian Portuguese instructor for military course
A US company that provides language services to American military and intelligence agencies has posted a job opening for a Brazilian Portuguese instructor to teach a specialized course from October to November 2026, just before Brazil's first election round. The position, listed by Ascensus Global, requires native Portuguese speakers with English fluency and experience teaching military or government personnel, plus translation and interpretation skills. The three-week program includes one week of virtual activities and two weeks in Montgomery, Alabama, home to a US Air Force base. The job posting comes amid heightened tensions, as President Donald Trump threatened military force in the Americas at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. A Brazilian Intelligence Agency report recently elevated the risk of US interference in Brazil's 2026 elections to a "critical level."
