US firm Microvast advances all-solid-state battery technology for electric vehicles

Microvast, a U.S. battery technology firm, has made progress with its True All-Solid-State Battery (ASSB) technology. This new battery design improves safety and energy density, allowing for longer driving ranges and faster charging in electric vehicles compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. The ASSB technology uses a solid electrolyte separator, eliminating the safety risks of liquid electrolytes. This allows for higher voltage capabilities, which traditional batteries cannot achieve. The bipolar design also simplifies the battery system, enhancing energy efficiency and safety. Microvast is moving into the pilot production phase to address manufacturing challenges for solid-state batteries. The company aims to scale its technology to meet the needs of various applications, including electric vehicles and advanced robotics.
