UPSRTC requests over 700 crore for new buses in upcoming budget

The UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is requesting over Rs 700 crore from the government for new buses in the upcoming budget. This follows a previous allocation of Rs 1,500 crore for fleet upgrades. UPSRTC has already issued purchase orders for over 220 electric buses, including 20 double-decker models. Currently, 21 electric and two double-decker buses are in operation for the Maha Kumbh. Additionally, UPSRTC plans to hire 50 electric buses, bringing the total to 270. The process for acquiring 100 high-end AC Volvo buses is also underway, with re-tendering expected soon.
