Unrwa halts aid deliveries to Gaza after convoy attack and looting
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa, has suspended aid deliveries through the main route into Gaza after trucks were looted. This decision follows months of unsafe conditions for aid transport, including the hijacking of nearly 100 trucks last month. Unrwa's head, Philippe Lazzarini, called on Israel to ensure the safety of aid workers and supplies. He highlighted the ongoing challenges, including Israeli military actions and the targeting of local police, which have disrupted aid efforts. Recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have resulted in civilian casualties, including the deaths of three aid workers. The conflict has led to significant loss of life, with over 44,000 Palestinians reported killed since fighting began.
