Unknown drone entered Bulgarian airspace from Romania and exploded near Kardam village, causing no injuries or damage, according to President Rumen Radev. Border police detected the drone around 8 a.m. after it crossed from Romania. It exploded in a sunflower field 200 meters from a Romanian compressor station and 1,000 meters from a Bulgarian facility along the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline. Both countries’ radar failed to identify the drone. Bulgaria plans to speed up radar deliveries, boost strategic-site security, and tighten border monitoring. The region has faced increased drone incidents linked to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
