University study reveals luckiest and unluckiest lottery numbers in the UK

A recent analysis by University of Manchester statisticians reveals that the number 13 is the least frequently drawn in the National Lottery, appearing only 358 times. In contrast, the number 38 is the most common, drawn 451 times. The analysis suggests that the best combination for winning the jackpot includes numbers 38, 23, 31, 11, 45, and 33. However, the difference in frequency between these "lucky" numbers and others is minimal, making significant wins unlikely. Despite a strategy claiming to guarantee a win, playing the recommended combination since May 2023 would have resulted in a loss after ticket costs. The analysis tracked all 21,000 balls drawn since the lottery's start in 1994.
