University of Washington-Seattle charges 33 protesters with criminal trespass after pro-Palestinian demonstration

Thirty-three individuals have been charged with criminal trespass following a pro-Palestinian protest at the University of Washington-Seattle. The charges stem from an occupation and vandalism incident in May 2025. The protest involved occupying and damaging facilities within the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building. Over 300 days later, prosecutors filed misdemeanor charges against 33 people, including some of Chinese descent, who are expected in court on March 25. The estimated damage to new equipment was $1 million. Vandalism charges were not included due to a lack of surveillance inside the building.
