University of Texas System to offer free tuition for families earning under $100,000

The University of Texas System will offer free tuition and fees for undergraduates from families earning less than $100,000 starting in fall 2025. The program, called "Promise Plus," received preliminary approval from the Board of Regents. Eligible students must be Texas residents, enroll full-time, and apply for federal and state aid. This initiative is an expansion of previous programs that provided free tuition for families earning $65,000 or less. The new program aims to assist an additional 3,000 students and will allocate $35 million to support the initiative. The UT System is the largest university system in Texas, with 256,000 students.
