Unions plan national demonstrations for Gaza on October 4th

Unions USB and CGIL are preparing for national demonstrations on October 4th in Rome, advocating for Gaza. USB plans 100 protests nationwide, while CGIL threatens a general strike if aid flotillas are blocked. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has urged adherence to rules for demonstrations, emphasizing non-violence and respect for citizens' rights. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi is coordinating security for major public squares. CGIL leader Maurizio Landini defended the right to strike as a democratic tool for expressing dissent, responding to Piantedosi's concerns about potential escalation of protests. CISL and UIL unions are not participating in the planned strike.
