Union railway ministry approves Parel terminus and LTT expansion projects

Central Railway's Parel terminus and LTT expansion projects have been approved by the Union railway ministry's Project Evaluation Committee, paving the way for more long-distance trains. The approvals mean tenders can now be floated. The LTT expansion will add three to four platforms, increasing its capacity by six to ten train pairs, while the Parel terminus will serve as an additional hub. These projects, initially planned years ago, aim to ease congestion at existing Mumbai stations and accommodate the railway ministry's goal of operating 50 more long-distance trains from the city.
