Ukrainian Singer Valeriia Vovk Praises Homecoming After Four Years in US

Ukrainian singer Valeriia Vovk, after four years in the US, said she was pleasantly shocked by Ukrainian supermarkets, food quality, and baked goods upon her return. She shared her impressions in an interview with Marichka Padalko. Vovk, who studied at Berklee College, said she immediately visited a Silpo supermarket and was amazed by its renovated design and vast food variety. She criticized American food quality, calling US vegetables "plastic," and noted that good bread there costs at least $10. The artist described returning to her native Odesa as deeply warm, saying every corner felt familiar. She missed Ukrainian fields, sunflowers, and market produce. During the full-scale invasion, Vovk supported Ukrainian soldiers by performing for them during rehabilitation.
