Ukrainian meteorologists predict a mild winter this year, with no severe cold expected
Ukrainian meteorologists predict a warm winter this year, according to preliminary data from the Pozhyzhevska weather station in the Carpathians. Oleg Basarab relayed this forecast after speaking with station staff, reassuring Ukrainians that severe cold is not expected. The station, Ukraine's highest operating meteorological and avalanche monitoring facility, collects data from numerous instruments. Readings are recorded in daily logs, entered into computer tables, coded, and transmitted to hydrometeorological centers in Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv. For the upcoming weekend of October 17-18, cloudy weather with intermittent rain and possible fog is forecast across most regions, with temperatures of +10 to +15 degrees. Warmer conditions and clearer skies are expected from next week.
