Ukrainian intern's Swedish farm placement turns into nightmare
A Swedish newspaper reports that a Ukrainian intern named Mykola described his experience at a farm in central Sweden through an internship program as a nightmare, alleging he lost over 20 kilograms due to forced hard labor and long night shifts. Other interns have reported surveillance and incorrect pay, with many receiving compensation after union intervention. The farm's owner denies the allegations, stating interns worked voluntarily and received proper pay. The union SAC has recovered nearly ten million kronor for agricultural workers and is pursuing cases at six other farms. The internship organization JUF says it recognizes few problems, contradicting the interns' accounts of excessive work and exploitation.
