Ukrainian driver's licenses will require exchange for EU-standard ones for use abroad

Ukrainian driver's licenses will only be valid within Ukraine after the country joins the EU. This change is part of adapting Ukrainian law to European standards. Existing licenses will remain valid until expiration but will require exchange for an EU-standard license for use abroad. New licenses will be issued for two years, with subsequent exchanges possible without re-exams if there are few traffic violations.
