Ukraine's winter energy risks: Kyiv and Kharkiv face heating and power threats

Ukrainian lawmaker Serhiy Nahornyak warned that officials are afraid to tell President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the truth about energy preparedness, raising risks for heating and electricity in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and other major cities this winter. Nahornyak, a member of the parliamentary energy committee, said delayed international financing has pushed capital expenditures for energy protection to December, potentially undermining winter preparation plans approved by the government and the National Security and Defense Council. The lawmaker noted that Ukraine's energy system must survive until December without illusions that the enemy will attempt to disable it, emphasizing that significant resources are objectively needed for the resilience plans.
