Ukraine opens inquiry into SBU-GUR shootout in Kyiv; two soldiers suspected

Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation has opened a pre-trial inquiry into a shootout between Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and Defence Intelligence (GUR) personnel in Kyiv, with two military members notified of suspicion. An SBU employee is suspected of exceeding authority, while a GUR serviceman faces charges of encroaching on a law enforcement officer's life. The incident occurred September 1-2 in a residential area, and a separate investigation has been launched into a GUR serviceman's disappearance. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko stated that forensic examinations have been ordered to clarify all circumstances, including weapon use and evidence. He noted that various versions of events have circulated publicly, and the investigation aims to establish facts and provide legal assessments.
