Ukraine considers demolishing old buildings for new construction

Ukraine is considering demolishing some old buildings to construct new ones, but experts advise renovation is often more practical and cost-effective. The head of a parliamentary committee stated that demolition would be a last resort for buildings deemed unsafe and beyond renovation, with renovation being the preferred approach where feasible. Ukraine faces a significant issue with aging housing stock, with around 10,000 buildings from the 1950s-60s needing attention, and legislative work is needed for compensation models.
