Ukraine accelerates production of jet-powered Shahed interceptors

President Zelensky said Ukraine's military command discussed accelerating production of high-speed interceptors against Russian jet-powered Shahed drones, with domestic manufacturers capable of the task. Prototypes are developed, with work ongoing to reach required effectiveness. Zelensky stated specific deadlines were set for engaging businesses in producing, supplying, and configuring certain air defense systems. The goal is to ensure sufficient quality and quantity of fast interceptor drones and cheap missiles, as Russian forces increase production of similar attack assets. Ukraine's Defense Minister reported four potential interceptor options exist. Russia has intensified drone attacks on Kyiv, with nearly 1,500 drones launched in four days, over 800 jet-powered. August saw over 2,800 jet drones, a fivefold increase from June.
