UK tourists warned of heavy rain in Majorca
Tourists in Majorca, Spain, are facing warnings of heavy rain that may last for three weeks. This weather could disrupt the start of the high tourist season, which usually attracts millions of visitors. Spain's weather agency, Aemet, reports that March has already brought as much rain as the country typically sees in a month. For example, Palma Airport has recorded nearly 97 liters of rain, far above the usual 23 liters. Other regions, like Llucmajor, have experienced similar increases in rainfall. This week, heavy downpours have caused flooding in southern Andalusia, leading to the evacuation of hundreds. Two people are missing, and emergency services have responded to numerous incidents related to the storms. Spain remains on alert, especially after a deadly flood earlier in the year. Aemet has issued warnings for coastal areas, as new Atlantic storms are expected to bring more rains. The government has advised people to take safety precautions, including avoiding risky areas near the water and staying away from flooded roads and beaches with strong waves.
