UK court increases sentences for youngest knife killers in decades

Two 13-year-old boys have had their sentences increased for the murder of 19-year-old Shawn Seesahai in Wolverhampton. Initially sentenced to a minimum of eight and a half years, they will now serve at least ten years in prison. The boys, who were 12 at the time of the crime, became the youngest murderers in the UK since the 1993 case of James Bulger. They were found jointly responsible for the stabbing, which was described as horrific by the trial judge. The Court of Appeal ruled that the original sentences were too lenient. The Solicitor General argued that the case was particularly serious, leading to the increase in their minimum terms.
