UK cherry harvest will be bigger, sweeter, juicier

British cherry harvests are expected to be "bigger, sweeter, and juicier" this year, leading Tesco to exclusively sell UK-grown cherries starting in early July. Favorable spring weather has resulted in the largest predicted cherry yield in three years, with an estimated 8,000 tonnes expected. This increased volume allows Tesco to meet summer demand solely with British produce. Growers are also using new varieties and techniques, like dwarf rootstock and climate-controlled tunnels, to extend the cherry season and improve fruit quality.
