Uhale Android photo frames download malware on restart

chip.de (German)

Android devices, specifically Uhale digital photo frames, are downloading malware upon every restart. This poses a significant security risk to users. Security firm Quokka discovered that the Uhale app, version 4.2.0, can download and execute malicious software from Chinese servers during the device boot process. The affected devices are often pre-rooted with security features disabled. The vulnerability, linked to malware families Mezmess and Voi1d, has been reported since May, but the manufacturer, ZEASN, has not responded. Users are advised to purchase electronics from reputable brands.
