UEFA bans Fenerbahce duo for provoking Lyon fans

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee sanctioned Fenerbahce players Mason Greenwood and Matteo Guendouzi on Friday for provoking rival fans following an August 26 Champions League qualifier against Olympique Lyon. Guendouzi received a four-match ban, with two suspended for a year, plus a 50,000 euro fine for insulting others and provoking spectators. Greenwood was fined 30,000 euros, with his one-match ban suspended. Lyon goalkeeping coach Antonio Ferreira received a five-match ban for serious assault. Both clubs were also fined: Fenerbahce 95,000 euros and Lyon 108,500 euros for various offenses including pyrotechnics, disturbances, and object throwing. The incident began with Guendouzi's offensive gestures toward the crowd and ended with Ferreira attempting to attack him post-match.
