UC Berkeley researchers release affordable open-source reasoning AI model Sky-T1
Researchers at UC Berkeley have released Sky-T1, an open-source reasoning AI model that can be trained for under $450. This model is designed to replicate high-level reasoning capabilities affordably and efficiently. Sky-T1 competes with an earlier version of OpenAI's o1 on key benchmarks, performing better on math challenges and coding evaluations. However, it does not match the o1 preview on advanced science questions. The NovaSky team plans to continue developing open-source models with improved efficiency and reasoning performance. They aim to enhance the models' accuracy and capabilities in future projects.
