Former Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has joined Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati on a free transfer, ending his injury-plagued spell at Old Trafford. The 27-year-old Netherlands international signed a contract with the Ohio-based club through June 2027, with a club option for the following season. To facilitate the move, FC Cincinnati acquired an international roster slot from St. Louis CITY SC for $200,000 in General Allocation Money. Malacia arrived at Manchester United in 2022 from Feyenoord but made only 50 appearances due to persistent injuries. He won the 2022-23 EFL Cup with United and helped PSV Eindhoven secure the Eredivisie title during a loan spell in 2024-25. He has nine senior caps for the Netherlands.
