Typhoon No. 24 and front bring heavy rain to Pacific side of Japan through September 7

Typhoon No. 24 and a front are expected to bring heavy rain through September 7, mainly on the Pacific side from western to northern Japan, with a risk of landslides and flooding. The Japan Meteorological Agency warns of severe landslides in southern Kyushu and Amami, and on the Pacific side of eastern Japan and Tohoku. Linear rain bands may form in Tohoku, Kanto-Koshin, and Tokai, rapidly increasing disaster risk. The typhoon will likely become a tropical depression by September 7, but heavy rain may continue until around September 10, increasing total rainfall on the Pacific side. Thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hail are also possible.
