Two children accused of murdering 80-year-old man
Two children are on trial in Leicester Crown Court for the alleged murder of Bhim Kohli, an 80-year-old man. The incident took place on September 1 in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town. Mr. Kohli suffered serious injuries that led to his death the following day. During the trial, the jury learned that Mr. Kohli had previously clashed with the children. He reportedly struck one boy with a shoe on his legs and raised his arms toward a girl, which was described as a "slapping motion." The 15-year-old boy denies murdering Mr. Kohli, as well as an alternate charge of manslaughter. The girl, who filmed part of the incident, also denies manslaughter. On the day of the incident, five children entered the park shortly after Mr. Kohli. A girl in court explained how the group talked about Mr. Kohli before the boy approached him. She claimed she saw Mr. Kohli hit the boy and then the boy hit Mr. Kohli back with the shoe. The girl testified that she was not scared of Mr. Kohli but felt worried. She said she thought he might hit her when he raised his arms. She did not call for help after the man fell motionless on the ground because she wanted to leave the park. The girl also mentioned previous incidents where Mr. Kohli was targeted by other children. She denied any involvement in those events. The trial continues as more evidence is presented.
