Turkey's August inflation hits 31.51% annually, 1.84% monthly

Turkey's statistical institute announced August inflation data, with monthly inflation at 1.84 percent and annual inflation at 31.51 percent. The consumer price index rose 22.07 percent since December and 31.79 percent on a twelve-month average basis. Among the three largest spending groups, housing costs saw the highest annual increase at 39.77 percent, followed by transportation at 35.08 percent and food at 33.79 percent. Monthly, transportation rose 4.82 percent, housing 2.26 percent, and food 0.22 percent. Of 174 subcategories tracked, 134 saw price increases, 35 declined, and 5 remained unchanged. The special composite index excluding volatile items rose 30.68 percent annually and 1.84 percent monthly.
