Tukaram Mundhe urges citizens to end 'somebody else will do it' mindset for real change

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said India can achieve meaningful change only when citizens stop expecting "somebody else will do it," urging individuals to take responsibility for solving societal problems instead of waiting for others. Speaking at the Storyboard18 Global GenZ Summit, Mundhe cited the Mahabharata episode of Draupadi's disrobing, where powerful figures failed to act against injustice. He drew parallels to modern society, where people expect officers, politicians, or institutions to take the first step. Mundhe said every officer has their own working style and emphasized commitment to responsibility and honesty for all citizens. His FDA conducted over 3,100 inspections in two months, suspending 160-170 licences and issuing more than 700 improvement notices.
