TUI customers targeted by WhatsApp scam using personal travel details
TUI customers have been targeted by a WhatsApp scam that used personal travel details, including names, hotel names, and exact vacation dates, to trick them into clicking a fraudulent link. The tour operator has confirmed several cases and is investigating the source of the data breach. The scam message, sent to a customer before his trip to Greece, claimed his reservation was pending verification and threatened cancellation if he didn't complete a fake form. TUI Belgium stated it has warned all clients and is working to identify the origin, though it says the fraud does not appear to be large-scale. TUI has reminded customers it will never contact them via WhatsApp for payments, and the company advises verifying reservations only through official platforms. The source of the leaked data remains unknown, and no evidence yet confirms a hack of TUI's systems.
