TSMC reports Arizona chip plant nearly back on schedule with Apple as largest customer
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) reports that its Arizona chip fabrication plant is nearly back on schedule. The facility, which will produce advanced 4-nanometer chips, is currently in pilot production and aims for full output by 2025. The project's cost has increased from $12 billion to $20 billion, with TSMC planning to invest a total of $65 billion for three fabs by the end of the decade. Apple will be the largest customer at this site. TSMC is also facing challenges in hiring skilled workers and securing enough water and power for operations. The company plans to recruit 6,000 workers and implement water recycling to manage its resource needs.
