Briatore described the video call in Trump's office, where Trump advised that New York was too difficult but New Jersey was suitable. Ecclestone subsequently began negotiations with several individuals for a New Jersey race, though the deal ultimately failed. The project collapsed because Formula 1 lacked popularity in America at the time, with NASCAR and IndyCar dominating the motorsport landscape. Today, F1 thrives in the US with three races and two American teams.
