Travel agencies in Majorca threaten to halt tourist trips over proposed group size limit
A proposed regulation in Majorca aims to limit guided walking tour groups to 20 people. The Business Association of Travel Agencies of the Balearic Islands (Aviba) opposes this change, calling it "disproportionate" and claiming it was not previously disclosed. Aviba's president, Pedro Fiol, stated that if the rule is enforced, travel agencies may stop bringing tourists to Palma due to increased operational costs. He noted that current group sizes average around 50, and the new limit would raise prices for tourists. The proposal comes amid ongoing protests against overtourism in Majorca, as locals seek better management of visitor numbers. Aviba highlighted a lack of official guide positions in recent years, complicating the situation further.
