TransLink has announced its winterization plan for Metro Vancouver's transit fleet, preparing for a potentially harsher winter. The plan includes increased use of winter tires and more buses designed for slippery conditions. This year, 600 buses will be equipped with Michelin 'Grip D' tires, up from 500 last year. TransLink is also introducing 16 new articulated buses with improved handling on winter roads. SkyTrain operations will include overnight runs and special trains to keep tracks clear. Staff will be on hand to de-ice train doors and assist passengers during inclement weather.
