Train World employee defrauded the museum of over €1 million

A Train World museum employee was convicted for defrauding over one million euros. The employee created fraudulent invoices for services never rendered. The employee, working in accounting, submitted false invoices for cleaning and communication services, directing funds to her own account. The fraud occurred between 2016 and 2021, causing a 1.06 million euro loss. The fraud was discovered after the employee's retirement. The employee cited a difficult personal period and gambling addiction as contributing factors. The SNCB has since implemented stricter accounting and control measures.
