Toyota registers trademarks in Russia to protect its brands

Toyota has registered its brand trademarks in Russia after withdrawing from the country. This move aims to prevent third parties from using its brands. The Russian patent office approved Toyota's application to register trademarks, including the "Land Cruiser Prado" SUV brand, as of December 3, 2025. This follows a trend of foreign companies seeking to protect their brands in Russia. Toyota ceased production at its St. Petersburg plant in September 2022. The company had reportedly applied for over 80 trademark registrations in Russia.
