Top-Ranked Hospitals in Georgia: U.S. News 2026-2027

U.S. News released its 2026-2027 hospital rankings, placing greater emphasis on risk-adjusted patient outcomes, with Emory University Hospital in Atlanta named the top hospital in Georgia. The annual report, now in its 37th year, aims to help patients compare facilities for procedures ranging from knee replacements to complex illness treatment. Piedmont Atlanta Hospital ranked No. 2, followed by Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital at No. 3, with Emory University Hospital Midtown and Northside Hospital Cherokee tied at No. 4. Emory was recognized as high performing in cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, diabetes, gastroenterology, and pulmonology, among other categories. The rankings reduced or eliminated weight on hospital size, staffing, technology, and reputation, with patient outcomes now determining most scores in cardiology. U.S. News also introduced regional specialty rankings for cancer, orthopedics, and rehabilitation to help patients identify highly rated care closer to home.
