Tom Hamilton reflects on joining Thin Lizzy for anniversary tour after meeting band members

Tom Hamilton, the bassist for Aerosmith, joined Thin Lizzy for a tour in 2016 after meeting band members at a Motörhead concert. This marked his first musical project outside of Aerosmith, which he had been part of since its formation. Hamilton played Phil Lynott's parts during the tour, commemorating the 30th anniversary of Lynott's death. He prepared extensively for the role, receiving help from guitarist Damon Johnson during rehearsals. Hamilton has since stepped down from the position, with Troy Sanders from Mastodon taking over for the last shows in 2019. Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring in 2023, but Hamilton has not ruled out future performances.
