Tokyo launches guided tours of innovative public toilets designed by top architects
Tokyo has launched guided tours of its innovative public toilets, part of The Tokyo Toilet project, which features 17 unique facilities designed by renowned architects. The project aims to improve public restroom experiences, especially for people with disabilities. The toilets, which include features like transparent glass that turns opaque, have become popular attractions. A recent survey showed public satisfaction with these facilities increased from 44% to 90% since their introduction. The project was inspired by a desire to make Tokyo more accessible and welcoming, especially ahead of the 2020 Olympics. It has successfully transformed public perceptions of restrooms in the city.
