Tina Packer, founder of Shakespeare & Company, who revolutionized Shakespearean performance, has died at 87. Packer championed a visceral, truth-based approach to Shakespeare, blending British rigor with American energy. She directed all 37 of Shakespeare's plays and explored female characters in her work "Women of Will." Her influential career spanned seven decades and included acting, directing, and teaching. Shakespeare & Company was named one of its theaters in her honor.
